The Apollo XP95 (55000-600) Optical Smoke Detector is part of a new advanced range of analogue addressable smoke detectors. Easy to install and high in performance, this smoke detector has many great features. Smoke detection in this detector is provided through an internal pulsing LED and a photo-diode at an obtuse angle to the light source. The LED releases a burst of collimated light every second, due to the alignment of the photo-diode this is not registered when the atmosphere is clear (the photo-diode even has a daylight blocking filter to eliminate false alarms). If smoke enters the detector chamber the stream of light from the LED is scattered by the smoke particles, allowing the diode to pick up a light signal and trigger an alarm. The XP95 optical smoke detector then transmits the alarm signal to the addressable fire alarm system control panel digitally. Adhering fully to EN54 guidelines and regulations, this device, along with the entire Apollo XP95 range has been stringently tested to ensure it meets both safety standards and modern environments. This detector has the same outer case as the ionisation smoke detector, distinguishable by the clear LED which turns red in an alarm.
